Burnt Monoao

Clumps of fast growing tussock and the charred stems of monoao (Dracophyllum subulatum) after fire through frost flat vegetation. Although frost flats look to many like weedy scrub, they are fragile native ecosystems that can be devastated by fire, and it may then take decades for signs of recovery to show.
