On a recent trip to the far North I found and photographed a North Cape green gecko, also known as yellow-lipped gecko. This species is only found wild in scrub vegetation near the northern tip of North Island, in the Far North District of Northland. Visit the lizards section of my gallery to see photos of this beautiful endemic treasure.

I’ve recently added photos of two new species —semipalmated plover and eastern curlew — to my photo library and this site, as well as some beautiful new photos of old favorites — wrybill and sharp-tailed sandpiper.

The New Zealand bellbird is a small olive green bird that can easily be overlooked, but its voice is one of the most well known and liked of all our native songbirds. Recent additions to my gallery include well over a dozen bellbird photos.
